The Words Fail Me

I read you my poem today

With such pride I shared the verse

Telling you all the things you deserve to hear and know

I worked to show you

Your eyes lit up as you listened

Soaking in every detail

I could feel the star-shine building inside your heart

As I fumbled through the text

These words I write united in a purpose

To capture my love for you

Then send it back into your world so you may hear it today

And hold it forever

I realize the words often fail me

Unable to paint the picture of my soul

Nonetheless I strive to curate our dreams and give them to you as a gift

I wrap them up in prose and pray you can hear me

No transaction is needed

Theres nothing I want in return

You are deserving of my adoration simply because you are exist

I exist to shower you with that love

Because when I hear you laugh I see the sunrise

I feel the glow of it's light on my face

With my eyes closed I turn in to this sun to accept the gift of it's warmth

Each time new as if I have never seen the sun rise before

My daughters you are worthy and more

You deserve peace and happiness and love

And my purpose is to fight with all I have to ensure these things for you

I may often fall short, but I will never stop
