The world tries to tell us what family means

But family is ours to define

We stand, a collective, unwavering in commitment

To nourish each others souls

In the space and time we share; we choose

To create action in love

We define our bond, stronger than perfection

Glowing with acceptance

There is no need to strive to earn each others affection

In this home we are all enough

Nourished by the confidence that we are all sufficient and deserving

We gift kindness upon each other

We find in this communion how our bond multiplies

Our forgiveness emboldens

Our individual strengths fueled by our collective gifts

And refusal to let go of each other

Though the voices, plenty, may tell us families are born

Or that families are made

We relish in the peace that family is more than all of this

It is the enactment of a belief

That together we are more
